Today in class, students completed a value scale of their 2H and 3B pencils to practice shading, control and observe the range of value their pencils hold. Students also created a cube with accurate shading.

To help you with this, you completed a Google Form with various questions to help you learn about the resources found on the site. You can access this form by clicking HERE. My favorite food you ask? Why, that is SUSHI!!! Today in class, students finished their face proportion drawing to match the image above (left). Then, they dove into their first facial feature...eyes! The two images above show what students are drawing (top right) and how far we got in class today (bottom right).

Upon completing their drawing, they wrote a brief reflection documenting what what successful, what needs improvement, and what drawing skills they learned. Finally, students finished class by taking notes on the Landscape genre. Students will begin drawing their landscape next class.

The image to the left is the final stage with complete shading. The image to the right shows how far students got by the end of class. The only step left requires adding more contrast to the areas around and between the still life objects. Students will finish this NEXT CLASS and turn in their portfolios for Portfolio Check #2.

The image to the left is the final product students will create. The image to the right documents the progress students made in class. In this stage, students began "shadow mapping" or defining the basic shapes of the shadows. This allows student a good road map for the next stage of adding value.
